About CostMe

CostMe is a calculator that fights impulse spending by reframing a purchase as the thing it quietly costs you: forgone investment returns. Type any price and CostMe shows what that money could become if it were invested instead. One honest number, calculated at the market's long-run average. From there the loop is simple. Vault it and resist, set a 48-hour cooldown, or log it as already bought. Nothing is judged; everything is counted.

The product never gives advice. It gives math, then gets out of the way a deliberate stance in a category built on nagging, habit-shaming, and dopamine-baited dashboards. Amy, built into the app, is there if you want to think a decision through in plain language, but she answers questions; she doesn't push. Behavioral science runs underneath every screen, applied invisibly, so the experience feels calm rather than clinical.

CostMe is built first-party and privacy-first: a free account syncs your vault across devices, there are no in-app ads, and individual data is never sold. The business model is the mission stated plainly. CostMe runs on subscriptions: no ads, no data sold, no cut of what you spend. It launched on the web in June 2026, with native iOS and Android to follow once the web experience meets the standard a person's money deserves.

Founder

Maddison, founder of CostMe.

Maddison built CostMe after noticing that impulse spending was never really a willpower problem. It was a framing problem. A $200 jacket feels like $200. It doesn't feel like the $4,000 it could quietly become over thirty years invested, because no one ever shows you that number at the moment it matters: standing in the checkout, thumb over the button. Every finance app Maddison tried arrived too late, the day after, tallying damage and dressing it up as insight.

So Maddison made the opposite tool. One that speaks up before the purchase, shows a single honest figure, and then trusts you to decide. CostMe was designed especially for people whose brains move faster than their plans, including the ADHD spenders the personal-finance world tends to lecture rather than help. No shame, no streaks to protect, no advice. Just the real cost, made visible, so the choice is finally yours to make on purpose.
